1/12-13: Schomburg Center 6th Annual Black Comic Book Festival: The annual event will feature panels and discussions on topics including diversity, social justice in comics, black comics in digital spaces and much more. 10 AM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
1/16: Between the Lines: When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir: From one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter, the hashtag that turned into a movement and global network, Patrisse Khan-Cullors, comes a poetic memoir and reflection on humanity. Patrisse Khan-Cullors and asha bandele will be in conversation with Akiba Solomon. A book signing will follow. 6:30 PM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
1/17: The Square and the Tower: Niall Ferguson with Gillian Tett: Historian and political commentator Niall Ferguson asks: From the Freemasons to Facebook, how have networks been true sources of power and drivers of change throughout history? 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building
1/18: American Masters-Lorraine Hansberry: Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart: Advance screening of the first feature-length documentary on playwright Lorraine Hansberry. Hansberry’s A Raisin In The Sun was the first work by an African American woman to be produced on Broadway. Following the screening will be a discussion with the film’s director Tracy Heather Strain moderated by Michaela Angela Davis. 6:30 PM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
1/18: Davalois Fearon: Finding Her History: Davalois Fearon is a critically acclaimed dancer, teacher, and choreographer born on the island of Jamaica and raised in The Bronx. Fearan comes to the Library in search of her history. What does it mean to be a black woman on stage? What is the map of a segregated self? Join us for an evening of personal history, original dance, archival performance screening, and discussion. 6 PM, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
1/19: The Library After Hours: Counterculture: Join us for the city's most cerebral happy hour. The Library After Hours features music, food and drinks, performances, and behind-the-scenes access to the Library’s collections. This month we celebrate the 1960s and the opening of our brand-new exhibition “You Say You Want a Revolution.” 7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

1/9: The Hottest Areas In The Job Market Today: Data Science & Analytics Careers: Data science and analytics is one sector of the job market that bucked the great recession. Kaiser Fung provides insights, tips, and educational recommendations to help you break into these fast-growing career paths. 6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library
1/10: Older Workers Rock: Job Search Over 50+: Join Renee Lee Rosenberg for this interactive session that demystifies the top myths about aging and job search. Learn strategies to help any job seeker over 50 conduct a more effective and fulfilling job search. 6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library
1/11: Starting a Small Business: You will benefit from attending if you are just getting started in business or if you are interested in going into business. The program focuses on the fundamentals of federal taxes for people who want to start a small business or for those small business owners who just recently started. 6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library
1/17: The Power of You: As we consider our career objectives in the New Year, we need to shift our mindset from job market victims to job market assets.
