NYPL #FridayReads: The Richer Readers Edition August 5, 2016

During the week, it can be tough to stay on top of everything. On Fridays, though, we suggest kicking back to catch up on all the delightful literary reading the internet has to offer. Don’t have the time to hunt for good reads? Never fear. We’ve rounded up the best bookish reading of the week for you.

Happy new year!

We Read...

That scientists have discovered readers are richer Nerds will have some fun with grammar books to give you the exclamation point feelings, the kind of feelings you have when Kevin Young joins the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture as director. To become Jo March, say, "That's capital!" instead of "That's cool." Example: that's capital that Roxane Gay and Yona Harvey will write Black Panther spin-offs and that the real Winnie-the-Pooh returned to the Library after a little a nip/tuck. But why did Google erase author Dennis Cooper's blog? At least we can figure out how to fit in big books with #Read20. Or, we can read books recommended by our littlest patrons. On #NationalColoringDay, we broke out the crayons and got to it in our free, downloadable coloring book, while listening to Pulitzer Prize-winner Siddhartha Mukherjee explain how his medical patients got him to write a book. And as the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro kick off, book-sport pairings bring together brain and brawn.
