On September 26th the Bronx Library Center hosted an event to celebrate and support veterans with disabilities. This inspiring day helped connect veterans to services in their community. The participating organizations tabled and were invited to speak about their programs. Library staff and volunteers were able to conduct oral history interviews for the NYC Veterans Oral History Project.

One of the organizations featured was the Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center, a Veteran Affairs program in Connecticut that helps veterans who are losing or have lost their vision.

Another Veteran Affairs program featured was My HealtheVet, an online heath profile for veterans, active duty members, and their dependents.

Additionally, NYPL presented programs, such as tech connect classes, and the Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library discussed the BARD program and new iPhone app. Veterans who are part of the BARD program are put at the top of the holds list, when requesting talking books.
