Meet the Author: Carliss Pond
Carliss Pond, author of Taste of Broadway and Sizzle in Hell's Kitchen spoke at the Columbus Library last year. It was great to have an author speak about the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, which has come to be known as Clinton in recent years. Sizzle in Hell's Kitchen chronicles the diverse restaurants available on Ninth Avenue, including 38 different restaurants representing 27 different cuisines.
Here's an interview with her (plus, the premiere of a recipe!) She had a book launch at Sardi's, which is one of the restaurants represented in the book. The NYPL Digital Image Gallery has a wealth of pictures of Vincent Sardi and the restaurant. Sizzle in Hell's Kitchen offers recipes for those who like to cook and restaurant "shout-outs" (my words, not hers) to those who would rather visit the restaurants themselves.
"Sizzle is not only good eating and good reading, it is an act of heartening urban conservation."
—Sara Moulton, host of Sara's Weeknight Meals on Public television; executive chef, Gourmet magazine; and food editor, Good Morning America.
