Basketball Season is Here!
It's that time of year again! The 2012-2013 professional and college basketball seasons are in full swing. And, of course, the Bronx Library Center has you covered with plenty of resources to elevate your sports IQ. Come check out a biography of your favorite ball player and learn about the lives of NBA legends like Jerry West, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal or current stars Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Lin (previously on NYPL blogs), Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Or, if history is more to your liking, read up on the history of the NBA and NCAA leagues.
In addition to these great resources, the Bronx Library Center will be hosting a Playstation 3 NBA2K13 Tournament for teens on Friday, January 18th 2013. The video game tournament will be held in the auditorium of the Bronx Library Center, where we have a big screen projector and a great sound system. Playing NBA2K13 in the auditorium will make it feel like you are really in a sports arena. If you're not much of a gamer, come cheer on friends and watch them play. Snacks and beverages will be available during the competition. The winner of the NBA2K13 tournament will receive a yet-to-be determined prize!
Also, on Wednesdays teens can come to our Get Your Game On program to learn or practice how to play NBA2K13 so they are ready for action come tournament time January 18th. The competition is sure to be intense and some teens like Tyrone "T-Bone" Hunter are talking trash already: "When the NBA2K13 tournament happens, I'm taking it."
