Before you start your search it would help if you can identify everything you remember about the book, plot, character names, time period in which the book may have been published, genre, etc. All these can help in identifying the title and author of the book.

There are some resources online that can help with a search for a fictional work if all you have is a plot line. Also sometimes the best way to find these half remembered books is to post them on a listserv or discussion forum whereby someone who may have read the book recognizes the plot line.

The Fiction_L Listserv "has come up with answers to numerous fiction and non-fiction 'stumpers' much to the delight of many patrons, as well as librarians, happy to find the title of a book they read 20 years ago (or just a couple months ago)."
The Project Wombat listserv is "an e-mail discussion list for difficult reference questions." Project Wombat is read by librarians, scholars, students, professionals, and people from all walks of life, so by posting your question to the listserv you are drawing upon the collective memories and resources of thousands of people.
You can also submit your question to a service offered by Abebooks known as "BookSleuth"
Loganberry Books offer a fee-based ($4) research service known as "Stump the Bookseller" for people who can recall only plot details of a book for which they are seeking. Loganberry is used mostly for children's books that you vaguely remember.
The Other Change of Hobbit bookstore in Berkeley, California maintains a "Department of Lost Stories" web page from which you can email the store's staff the book's plot and they will try to locate the book for you.
Whatsthatbook.com has sections for Children's Books, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Science Fiction & Fantasy for you to browse or you can post your own question.
The Internet Book Database of Fiction has an "Ask the Oracle" section "where you can post requests to help you identify books you read or saw a long time ago, and can no longer recall."
Barnes & Noble has a "Lost Books" discussion board.

Purple electricity time travel

The cover is a young girl staring at purple electricity flowing between her fingers or hands? It is reflected in her eyes. I read this book roughly 17 years ago maybe? Its a short book for young adults/kids. I cant remember if i got it at a book fair or just from the library. Book starts out on a young womans birthday she receives a radio from her dad, before plugging it in she shocks it and it turns on. She begins to develop electricity powers or something. I know there is a big deal about some outfit she keeps getting deja vu about, she ends up buying or stealing said outfit and time travels, theres some large plot i cant remember, i know theres another kid with teleportation powers. I have exhausted hours plugging in every bit of what i remember and cannot find this book, i would know it instantly from the cover art. Please and thank uou!

I read this book back in the 1970's, I wasn't even in high school yet. A cousin gave it to me to read while I was visiting in Ohio. It was a murder mystery and seemed to be taking place at a 1920's Garden Tea Party. The cover had the picture of a woman in a very pretty cream colored dress wit a lace overdress and she wore a long strand of pearls crosswise on her body from shoulder to hip. I remember that because I decided to wear mine that way for a time!

I read a story awhile ago, maybe over tens years ago, and every so often I think about it and I'm hoping someone can help me. It's set during the Salem witch trials or something like it and it revolves around a man who practices witchcraft. Well one day the magistrate of the town or something starts doing door to door searches for witchcraft and while the man is out he finds evidence of witchcraft and his wife and daughter are accused and killed for practicing witchcraft. I also remember the daughter was in love with the magistrate's son and was found wandering the woods waiting for him on that same day. Well, the man vows revenge on the magistrates family and after some time makes himself look younger and seduces the magistrates grand-daughter and that's as about as much as I remember.

It’s about Boy and Girl who came up with some kinda spell that if one of them dies the other had to say the spell to bring dead one back to life.Boy dies He showing up later in Girl house being a Corpse. Sec Story Man was cheated on his wife (or was a Womanizer )one day met in Pub a woman (maybe her name was ann)he slept with her and next day woke up in her body apparently it was some kinda curse and he had to find another man to sleep with him when he was an Ann to trap him in her body so he could take over next man body. It was about a young girl who runs away and meets up with this boy. The girl was kinda slow and had been abused but the boy methodically beat himself and then killed his parents and claimed it was because they abused him. He would stalk women and try to kill them. The girl meets him and gets a fascination with him and tries to help

Christian Fiction book

I read a book back in 2009, not sure if it was new or not. The characters were: a father and mother Michael and Stephanie and their kids Michelle and Stephen. (Not very creative) it was two parts. Part one saw the young boy gets cancer and the father turns to Jesus in the end. Next book sees Michelle run away from home and get addicted to crack and becoming a prostitute. One book has a blue cover and it was a male Author. I can’t remember the name of the book or the author . Can anyone help?

I'm looking for a book that I read a long time ago but can't remember the title of. Here's what I do remember: -main character is a young woman (possibly girl at the start of the book) with an off-kilter mom -she eats a dead butterfly (maybe a moth?) and maybe thinks she's pregnant because of it? -a church burns down at some point -there's two other women and one main dude -they all end up in court at some juncture -it was a weird book does anyone know what the heck I'm talking about? because I sure don't.

Looking for a YA/Jfiction fantasy book where the main character and her younger sibling's nanny turns out to be a dragon in disguise and takes them to her home planet. The dragons have no wings and fly by breathing fire behind them and blasting backwards through the sky. On the dragons' planet there is a war going on between the dragons and these fairies/elves who look like humans but with decorative butterfly wings. Both sides believe the younger sibling to be their prophesied savior and both sides call the other a [made up fantasy word] that the main character initially thinks means "evil monsters" but then realizes just means "enemy." The dragons had a trial to get their fire where they would be locked in the dark underground and they would be stuck forever and die unless they found the inspiration to ignite their fire and burn down the door.

This book was stolen from me and I can't remember the title or the author, but I remember it had a black cover with a green figurine of a woman on it. The plot was about a woman who buys a house only to find out this figurine is hidden in either the wall or the fireplace (can't remember which) and it is possessed by a killer's soul. She has to resist allowing him to transfer the possession to her. I remember it gets pretty steamy, but was definitely not a romance novel. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

About a girl named Lisette or Linette I believe, though I’ve searched for it and nothing shows up. It’s a sequel and I’ve never read the one before it. Basically she and another girl (or two?) work together for women who want to test their husbands, etc, and need a woman to do so. It pays well and I remember one of them drive a Mercedes. But it turns out the men work for this crazy lady from the first book, and he drugs her during dinner, she’d fallen for him prior to this. This one special song is pertinent to the story and keeps being brought up, and the villain plays it ironically as the main character is tied to the bed and the villain then shoots the man who works for her, saying he was an ex convict who’d been to jail for sexually assaulting women and at least he got one last good one off before he went. That’s about all I can remember.

The girl fell off of her floating island due to her being pushed off, she survived with help of this boy living down on the earth but they could only live underground due to monsters. I am trying to find a book I read in middle school. The cover is of a girl sitting on a field with a house behind her something like that. The main character is a young girl who I believe lived with her aunt. I remember there was this outcast at her school who they made fun of but she eventually becomes friends with her. Towards the end of the book when the girl grows up she gets pregnant. That's all I really remember hope it is enough.

Graphic Novel Book

This book is about a guy who is homeless and sees a ghost girl in a van. She starts to haunt him on his job until he finally agrees to help her. She takes him to meet another ghost and other ghosts that have powers and trains his own powers to manipulate and make things explode. Then he takes on requests that the girl wants him to do. One day he investigates a murder case and touches a photo I think and sees lamb on a trail which foreshadows the girl being dead later, then he touched a penny and saw another girl being suffocated on a beach and left there. It seems like the girl on the beach is the ghost girl, and the dude gets mad because she was using him to get revenge on the penny killer. But the she scares him into helping her again.

Okay this may be a long shot but I’m trying to remember the name of a book and for the life of me I cannot seem to put together a google search that will get me the answer. I read the book in 2016. I vaguely remember the cover having yellow tones. The plot is (loosely) as follows: a young woman is managing her family’s farm. One night she finds this muddy person or mud person (memory is unclear) outside. She brings the person in and they morph into a woman that looks like the main character. They become friends, later lovers, and decide to say she’s a long lost cousin so she can stay on the farm. Eventually the mud/muddy person morphs into a man and they have kids. I know it sounds strange but it was a great book. Help me out!!!

I don't know the name or the author of this book, but here we go. This is what I remember: A husband and wife were out getting some brunch and a bank near by was robbed. While the robbers were making a run for it, the wife was shot with a shot gun. (I remember distinctly that the robbers didn't have to shoot her, they did because they wanted to.) Somewhere along the line, the couples young daughter was kidnapped and the husband spends most of the book looking for her and tracking down the men from the robbery. At the ending of the book *Spoiler*, he finally finds his daughter and she had been smothered and was dead.. That's all I remember. I think the book came out around 2011-2012.

Canadian Short Story Collection

I am looking for a book that contained a collection of short stories in Junior High during the 80s and 90s. One particular Canadian author story was about a First Nations teenage girl who was asked to go to a school dance with her popular friends. Her older relative wanted to go along as a chaperone but was poor and only had an ugly old parka (green?) to wear. At the dane, the teenager was asked by her friends if that First Nations lady in the green parka was with her. The teenager responded with something like "...Who that ugly old Indian?" out of shame of her own family and race. The relative was quiet and hurt by this and sat alone. The story was about self esteem and the ongoing portrayal of young First Nations people in Canada. Was it called "That Ugly Old Indian"? Or "That ugly old parka"?

It's about an undercover motorcycle cop. His wife takes their little daughter and joins a cult called The Church of the Seven Seals. anyway he goes undercover to investigate another cult called The Elect where there was suspected child abuse. It ends up that the mother that was abusing her child had MSBP (Munchhausen Syndrome By Proxy) there was also a young women there I think her name was Rachel. I think her and the MC fall in love. I'm pretty sure the MC's name was Ross Malcolm. I don't remember how it ends. so I don't know if this is enough for anyone to go on, I think the book was the size of a Dime Novel, I don't know if that matters or not. and I'm pretty sure the picture on the cover was of the MC Ross Malcolm. But I would love any help I can get to find this book. Thanks!

I am trying to remember this book that I read 6-8 years ago but never finished. There is this man who is a surgeon and he accidentally carves an eye into this person he’s doing an operation on. He then gets fired and he and his family (I think there is a wife a two kids) have to move. They move into this old house then some stuff happens and they are on a ship then this girl joins them (I think she is a redhead) but then she is killed by pirates and that’s as far as I got. I think there is an eye on the cover of the book

It was one of my all time favourite books to read. I remember I read it when I was 12 years old and I gave it to my mum but she lost it and now I don't know what it's called. The plot was simple, it was of a young girl who might have gone by the name berry? and a social care officer went to her trailer and told her that she couldn't live alone anymore, since her mum had died, so she runs away and meets an old man who gets run over by a bus and has some backstory of working as a scientist for the government, but he's got a dark secret about aliens that he doesnt tell the girl about, he does send her off on a mission though with a parcel, to new mexico, to retrieve whatever he had to leave behind. She knows how to drive a motorcycle, despite her only being 14, as her mum (before she died) taught her how to, so she rides on through and meets a boy who tags along and they venture off to new mexico. I don't remember much of the story after but I do know that they go through San Francisco at one point. That's all I can remember, I'd really appreciate it if you could maybe try to find it as I've been trying for years now and I can't remember what the name of the book or the author's name is. As some extra info, the cover's blue and has a green and blue gradient with stars as the background and then some very bright colourful gems right in the middle, not too big though. They consisted of blue, green, yellow and red. Again, I'd really appreciate it if you could try to find my book, thank u!

Finding a magic book I read in 2009

Finding a book

If there is help out there, this looks like the place. I am looking for a vampire book I read some 20 years ago. Sadly I have had to purchase this book three times in the past. It seems to get borrowed and never returned. Now I would like to read it again and to my sad sorrow, I can not remember the name or the author. What I do remember is that it is about a family who has a very old vampire trapped in his coffin but sadly they fall on hard times so they take him out on display like a side show carnival kind of thing. In one of the cities they are in a young woman taking her coffee break she goes to the park and enters the tent. While in it something startles her and she cuts her ankle. She wipes the blood away and puts the paper in the trash. The smell of her blood wakes the vampire. Then another vampire enters the story looking to kill the old one and protect her. The old vampire had killed the new ones wife many years ago or so he thought. Turns out she is his slave because she did not want him. We do some time tracing only back to when the vampires where made. There is an old vampire hunter as well. In the end the vampire marries the girl and they describe the way the wedding cake breaks down in his stomach when he eats it. Then the old vampire attracts on the wedding night the vampire hunter is turned vampire to save his life. I remember a lot more details hoping this much will help. One would think I could remember the title if I can remember most of the book.

Looking for a scary book I read over 10 years ago

I read it in 2008 so it was published before then, the story was about a family that moved out into the country and the boy was having problems making friends. After a while he made a friend that was sort of Amish type in their beliefs, they didn't like outsiders. They found witchcraft type stuff under the stairs where there was a trapdoor. The girl gave him a pendant or necklace to protect him from "monsters" that live in the woods. They tried initiating him into their cult and to do initiations they must kill the family members. He had a younger sister, a mother and I think the sister had a cat. I really don't remember anything else except that I enjoyed the book. Any help would be so appreciated as I want to add this book to my library!

Book I read as a teenager

I remember reading a book in late 80's and the cover was a picture of a teenage girl who was portrayed as plain/ugly looking. The book was about this girl who was in school who didn't fit in with the popular girls. She would watch them with their perfectly pink painted nails and perfect bodies and wished she could be like them. I believe she may have been bullied as well and perhaps from a home with no money or proper hygiene. A teacher at the school helped get her a makeover, just in time for her to transfer to another school for a fresh start. Does anyone remember a book like this?? Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for a book a read in high school around 2012-2013. I remember the cover being blue and had like a icy theme to it. In the beginning of the book the girl is home alone she gets this phone call from someone I can’t remember if they were calling out for help. But I know they was watching her at one point. But think she kept hear about the figure/person around town. I think it was like ghost or a spirit of some sort. It was a male figure I think. I knew she would find foot step and they would like disappear. It was so long ago.

I thought the name of the book was Daisy but I can't find it anywhere. The main character moves to NYC to go to college, and live in a hotel for women on a certain floor for students. She wants to be a sculptor instead so she secretly dis-enrolls and applies her tuition towards a year's worth of rent at the same hotel on a different floor. Then she spends her time sculpting (in a tiny apt) and visiting museums. Months later her dad or parents come to visit her and she cleans her apartment and bleaches her hair blonde in prep for the visit. I think it ends with her being able to stay in NYC and sculpt, because her sculptures show talent.

Okay, so I read this book about ten or so years ago. I believe that the main character was a girl who was an orphan/in foster care. Her life is filled with different homes, drugs, sexual assault (if I remember correctly), and similar themes. There is a scene in the book where she is sitting with her foster brother(?) in the basement eating bread balls covered in sugar. Another aspect I remember is a jazz player and one of her boyfriends throughout the story is trying to get signed by a record label? I don’t remember completely. I think the main character is white and this jazz played Is African American. The last aspect I remember is that the cover was black and blue and I think there were a few music notes in it?? I can’t remember! Please help me find this book!

One story was really messed up. This woman would come visit th man in The hospital. He was unable to communicate. It turns out this guy abused her in the past. So she would just come to torture him she would feed him bugs other grow stuff.

PLEASE HELP... it's a novel about a girl that lived from shelter to shelter with her male friend, they ran away from a child prostitution house. They always felt as though the leader was still looking for them. She sells a painting of her mother to a stranger who insists on purchasing it. The stranger insists because it looked like an old friend. The girl grows suspicious and packs up her things and immediately starts to relocate. The stranger gives the painting to her male friend. the painting looked exactly like his wife who had run away with their daughter. The man begins to search for the artist, The search was made public and a politician of some sort hired a hitman to kill the girl because he was her main customer when she was at the child prostitution house, He was the one that had beaten her badly because he noticed that she had hit puberty The private investigator finds the girl at a shelter I believe. they had an encounter with the hitman, but they survive and the girl is brought home to her father safe and sound. Her friend is also welcomed to stay with them. Later we find out that her friend had tested positive for full-blown AIDS The hitman kills father's neighbour and attempts to plan an attack on the girl. His plans interfered when the private investigator and the girl's friend attack first. The hitman kills the friend but contracts AIDS when his a wound got infected with the friend's blood.

Children's book from 1970s?

Possibly a Scholastic book about a boy who wants to be a naturalist when he grows up, and goes with his family on a cross-country vacation, intent on buying fireworks. The book ends with all the fireworks accidentally being set off at once after they arrive home.

Religious novel

I once read a fiction book about an elderly man who had lost his wife. Eventually, he and his wife started communicating from heaven and then it got really awkward because he started dating again and he felt like he was cheating. I'm pretty sure he ended up dying as well and it was weird because he showed up in her Heaven and he hadn't chose her, but he couldn't go back to Earth. Help!

Old book mostly forgotten

Okay, I'm going to try my best to describe this. I started reading a book from the library way back in the early to mid nineties. Let's say 94-96. I think it was a new release those years but could be wrong. Fantasy setting, I believe the main character was a boy/man, there was a plot about a missing or dead king but the main character found/saw/heard about a statue of amber (description made it sound like Mario) and they could feel a magical presence from it. I'm pretty sure it was a save the kingdom kinda story but I never had a chance to finish the book.

The first one was of a home schooled boy who was killed because of some deal I think and he turned into a zombie, He then finds some sort of monster if I remember correctly in the sewers and with him and his friends he figures out why he was killed, the second one I vaguely remember a girl who died at a remote house I think it was but she didn't know she died

A couple years ago I read this book about this woman who was pregnant and she was going to visit her Amish family for Christmas and all I remember is towards the end she has her baby in a barn for some reason. It had a blue cover and it was a novel.

I remember this book I read about five sixish years ago the setting was in London it was about a prince. I think that he was a secret hero he was heir to the throne and you could tell that he was apart of the royal family because his blood was blue? I think that's right, at night he would go out at night? To practice I think and only very few people knew about it..... You know what never mind I doubt anyone can find the book I'm looking for with this crappy description Ive given sorry

Finding a book

I do not really remember much about this book because I read it years ago, but the cover is a blue green, maybe with a pond or some sort of water. There was a weird monster or creature thing in it, but the most descriptive thing that I can remember is that there was a boy in it who was kidnapped or taken by a group of people sort of like a gang, and they forced him to join them, and the initiation into the group was to hold him down and use a hot piece of metal to burn three horizontal lines into his cheek. They tell him that if he cries, they will kill him. Later in the book, to finalize his place in the group, they burn three more lines perpendicular to the first three. I really want to find this book, but I can't remember the title or author.

Hello, I am trying to find a fiction chapter book I read in the fourth grade. I remember the cover so vividly (except the title of course). It was about a young girl who was either an orphan or her parents neglected her and she spent her time at this diner and they served pancakes. In one scene I recall someone had lost a digit. There was also a waitress who worked there who was nice to the girl.

I remember I read this book about 6 years ago. I vaguely remember some details but the front cover of the book was a foggy image with a hand print on it (kind of like foggy glass) and the book was about kidnappings of students but I can’t really remember if it was a teacher or a parent of the students who kidnapped them. I also remember after a certain time limit they were killed. The kidnapper also hid them in their backyard? Maybe? And treated them like dogs and starved them. PLEASE HELP

so, there was this book that I read when I was younger. It was about 147 pages and it was written by a Japanese author. From what I remember was that there was a family that was poor and it was a jot summer I think there were 2 or more siblings and they wee dropping by a store to get a toy but they weren't able to get because they didn't have enough money and so later in the book the youngest sibling told the oldest sibling that they would like to see the fireworks some day but the younger sibling ended dying and she wasn't able to see the fireworks and so they buried her where her dead sister could see the fireworks.

Back when I was is primary school (2006-2010) I read a trilogy of horror books but I can't remember any of the titles or the author. One of them was about a 7ft Viking (maybe was a ghost can't really remember) that terrorised some children. Another one was about a wherewolf going after some kids on a school trip I think and the last one was about some demon dolls that only moved at night and each time one is destroyed the other ones got stronger. Okay I read this book somewhere between 2014-2017. It’s part of a trilogy. It’s about fairies and they’re evil or something. It’s about this young girl and she spends her time hiding from the fairies. The book tells you that you can hide under your covers to be safe from them. You can also lay out salt and iron works against them. The first book ends with her tied to a tree by fairies I think and she had these iron scissors. I need to know what book this is! I remember I loved the series. I think the title was something like the thirteenth wish. And the second was the thirteenth curse/child? I don’t remember and it’s driving me insane! Please help!

The story is about two engineers on vacation with their girl friends/wives climbing in the mountains, when one of them notices a black hole big enough for a person to step through. After all step through, it closes and they have to learn how to get back home but are having problems with the computer/AI that is in control of the facility that produced the black hole.

This novel was published in the late 70s/early 80s I think. It's a romance suspense, with some paranormal elements. Might have been written by Barbara Michaels. Plot is about a girl who shares a deep, psychic connection to a man from her hometown. He is a 2nd cousin, but she doesn't know who he actually is yet. Her father (or maybe grandfather?) dies, and her psychic lover contacts her telepathically to come home. Mystery and danger ensues.

The cover has a black background with a close up of a man in a suit and tie, just showing the neck and upper chest. A super geeky (and obese) man who is involved in the tech industry makes it big and becomes a millionaire. Within the first couple of chapters, his beautiful wife cheats on him with a “dear” friend. Hopefully I’m remembering this right, but I think he flys in a rage and almost kills the other man by holding him down under the water of the pool. Then he leaves in a rush and speeds down the mountain. He crashes his vehicle and gets knocked unconscious. When he wakes, the hospital staff doesn’t know who he is. It gives him an idea and he decides to disappear as if he died. For many years he had been saving up money separate from his wife in a Swiss bank account so he has plenty of money to live on. He thinks she cheated because he was heavy set so he loses all the weight, completely changes his appearance and moves on with his life. He ends up meeting another girl and falling in love. There’s one part where he goes to some fancy party and sees his “widow” (she didn’t even recognize him) and he was surprised that he didn’t feel the urge to kill her too. I don’t remember much else, but I think it had some redemption and forgiveness themes so it may have been a Christian fiction/romance book.

This book was about a demon hiding in hell trying to figure out how he could redeem himself, but it’s also about this orphan boy named Billy or Bobby who just turned 18 and is not being kicked out of his orphanage. He gets tied in with drugs somehow and I think the demon chooses saving Billy’s soul as his way of achieving redemption from hell. It had a blue cover I think

But I think the main lead girl own some store of a kind and her family or someone in her family was a thief who stole something. Then some guy can into the picture who was secretly undercover trying to find what was a stolen and to see if she was involved. There was a particular part where they are in her house and she gave him a massage. That’s all I remember at the moment.

I don't remember the name of the book or the chars ters cause I never got to finish the book, I read the bookike 10 years ago. All I can remember is that it was set in the 18th to 19th century. Its about a girl who has a tiny cave which she can can access from her bedroom window. One day, enemy soldiers attack her family's mansion and her mom hides her off in that cave and tells her not to come out untill she or any of her brothers return for her. It turns out the enemy knights kill all her family and her famy aides finally arrives and finds her and so she goes to love with them. That's all I can remember

So I remember this book I read when I was in high school it was very good and I'm pretty sure the name of the book was pretty long. It was about a teenage girl who had a gift. Which was at night she would be able to leave her body. Like her soul. And she would go all over the place well I'm not 100% sure but either she killed her enemy by accident or her enemy died by accident and when she was out of her body her enemy went into her body and took over it. Leaving her to be alone. She had a best friend who was a boy but she couldnt talk so she had to communicate the only other was she knew to him which I think the she couldn't write either but it's been so long since I read it anyway her friend was the only one who could help her get the other girl out of her body before it was too late and she would be stuck in the other detention forever and the enemy would have her body.

I recently had this urge to read a book I read many years ago. It was a thriller about this single mom and her son who moved to an apartment building after she fell in love with and married this reserved man. But weird stuff kept happening, people in the building had this odd and uncomfortable aura about them, she kept noticing people missing and the building patrons looking younger, having working eyes while blind before, etc, and her son kept having nightmares and such. It turned out that her new husband and the patrons are part of a cult, and that they harvest people's organs and take their blood to keep living for decades and not dying! P

I read this fantasy young adult novel a long time ago, cannot remember it’s name. I believe it is a trilogy. What I remember from the book is that these brother and sisters learn how to use their powers along the way. One particular scene is when the boy is being taught to apply just the right amount of pressure on an egg just before it breaks. Takes him several attempts. And I believe the sister used her powers by singing. I think even the name had the word “Singer” in it.

I read this historical fiction book, maybe in 2020? but it was probably released in the 90s or early 2000s. I think it was a blue book, the cover page featuring two upper-class women ( mother and daughter I think?) in a carriage. I think it was based in the 1800s, the upper-class women didn't go out without wearing hats, and gloves...and further down the plot, one woman(could be the daughter, don't remember well) is in an unhappy marriage, gives birth to a very weak child who passes away in a few days. I maybe mixing up two books, but I also end up thinking that there was the public execution of a thief(i think he was a pro, had been stealing for a long time) in the book. I never finished reading it! Can anyone help me find this book?

Milkshake saved her life

I'm trying to remember a book that I read in school. The most i can remember is that she had something that she was hospitalized for and was being treated with chemo and painful physical therapy. A part i remember vividly was that she had a bad fever, and really wanted a milkshake, but couldn't have it. Her parents eventually snuck one in and her fever started to come down and she got better. She said a milkshake saved her life.

Ok, so the book I’m looking for was about this girl realizing that she was in some weird “paradise” of sorts but it wasn’t really a paradise. I remember someone creating it called Vivian and I also remember that they all hooked up and thought it was normal as well as she was there because her brother died. And the way she found out that it was weird was when some kid showed up saying that he was trying to show his friends a naked picture of some ladies that he heard rumors about.

Back in the early 70s, my mother read to me from a book, that was pink, but the front cover had a hard plastic grid over the picture, and if you turned it different ways, the picture seemed to move. One of the stories was about a little old woman who lived by herself, and cooked a pot of soup, by saying "boil little pot, boil" then it boiled over and she yelled, "stop little pot stop." She also heard a voice after she was in bed, that said, "give me my bone." Does anyone know about this book? I'd love to find it! Tia

I'm looking for a book that I read in the late 2000s. The book was about a red head 14-15 year old girl who was a great swimmer but got pregnant by her Mexican teenage boyfriend. Throughout the story she learns how difficult life becomes with a child and how people can treat you different. Hello fellow readers! When I was in elementary school, I read a book about a boy in Japanese occupied China during WWII. I believe the boy was either Chinese or British, because at the end of the book, he was curious about the American soldiers talking about steak. Parts about the book that I remember are that he had a silkworm as a pet and he was really excited about collecting the silk from it. He might have had a kite as well. There was of course a lot about the struggles of being in this camp, like lack of food, staving people, abuse by their captors, etc,. If anyone knows the name of this book, that would be extremely helpful! Thank you

Time Travel

I read this book when I was 10 or so...it was about a boy who's uncle gives him some sort of time travel ability, I think it was a ring (or maybe he finds out how his uncle does it) and he travels all over the place. He does it through glowing stones? I imagined them as glowing green gravestone shaped things, but I'm not sure if that's how the author described them. You can't make eye contact with yourself or one of you will disappear. At one point he ends up in an alternate universe where his mother didn't die and he is really jealous of his alternate self. who he meets and I think becomes? Since only one version of the same person can exist in the same time. He also finds out his uncle was the one who killed his mother by somehow tricking her to drive off a cliff.

Children’s book with moral about taking care of your siblings

I’m looking for a children’s story I read like maybe 20 years ago about a girl who breaks her leg and stays in bed for months and learns something from it (something about loving your siblings and caring about them) I only remember bits and pieces.. I think there were four or five siblings, she was the oldest maybe, and she usually played with her cousin or friend?? the two younger siblings were close in age so they played together, but the middle sister was always left out.. I remember there was a swing.. and one of the games the older sibling played with her cousin was hiding paper notes in secret places.. Then one day this oldest sibling breaks her leg and stays in bed for months were she can’t play outside and then learns the value of sisterhood or something like that!! Does it sound familiar to anyone??
