NYPLarcade Asks: What Are You Playing?
This weekend, I'm planning to revisit the strange, haunting world of Dear Esther, which recently added Mac support to its Steam release. So far, the tone reminds me of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
In Max Payne 3 (for Xbox 360, PC, PS3) I'm making my way through the single player campaign. As with most Rockstar games, the narrative, characters, and setting all seem spot-on, while the controls and camera tend to be a bit of a struggle. Interestingly, I've found that diving from one slow-motion "shootdodge" to the next is a much better strategy than cautiously picking off enemies from behind cover.
I've also been putting a good amount of time into Zach Gage's SpellTower. It was already one of my favorite word games for the iPhone with its clean, minimalist interface and the newest update has added multiplayer support over bluetooth, which I can't wait to try.
Lastly, I will be prepping for our fourth and final game in the NYPLarcade Game Club series, Cloud. Of all Jenova Chen's games, this is the title that I have played the least and I'm excited to hear what people think about it this coming Tuesday.
For those who would like to get a head start, Cloud is also available as a free download (PC only) from the USC Interactive Media Divison site, where it was designed as a student project.
