Unseen Dance at the New York Public Library: Dana Salisbury and the No-See-Ums perform BARK, a dance for blindfolded audiences. Audience members experience the dance through their other senses. Printed Photos the Blind Can "See."
George Shearing, the blind jazz musician and composer, and friend of the library, has died at the age of 91. Mr. Shearing wrote approximately 300 songs, performed with his George Shearing Quintet, and accompanied top singers, including Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, and Nancy Wilson. His memoir, Lullaby of Birdland, was named for his famous composition: DB 57996 (Download Only), RC 57996, BR 15308 [NYPL].
