Stuff for the Teen Age, Hand-Made
Make Your Own Jewelry!
Muhlenberg's budding jewelers got together at last Thursday's Unplugged event (A bimonthly crafts and games program we have on Thursdays) to make some spooky necklaces and bracelets with local artist Pamela Isaac.
We were given some twine, metal wire and elastic, along with tiny skulls, chains, tons of cool beads and metal pieces. We spent the next hour making our own wearable art.
Here's a look at the materials that we used:
Everyone's necklaces came out differently and showed off their personality. I was very impressed. Take a look at a necklace made by one of our newest Unplugged members:
Nice!
If you are interested in making your own jewelry, come by and check out the library's craft section (look for the call number 739) and take a book home today! One I like is Cool Beaded Jewelry by Pamela Scheunemann. It's a small book packed with all the information that you would need to start your own beaded jewelry craft.
And don't forget to check your local library for their own craft programs. They are easy to find:
- Click on this link
- Click on "Narrow your Search"
- Find the drop box that called "Event Type" and select "Arts & Crafts"
- Next, find the drop box called "Audience" and select "Teen"
- Click "View seclected events" and you'll get a list of great craft programs to choose from!
Have fun!
