Stuff for the Teen Age
Highlight from Stuff for the Teen Age 2010 List - "Obsessed" (2009)
How far would you go to protect what's yours?
A wealthy, successful businessman has settled down and started a family with his former female assistant (played by Beyoncé Knowles). A new blonde temp has started at his office, and after some mild flirtation in an elevator on her first day, it's clear the temp has her eyes set on our hero. She finally makes her move at the staff Christmas party. When she's flat out rejected, well that's when things start getting really crazy.
She quits her job, but continues stalking the businessman anyway. By the time his wife learns about what is going on, the temp has already overdosed on pills and tried to kill herself, framing the man in the process. The plot continues to go back and forth, lulling viewers until a false sense of security until you see that familiar flash of blonde hair. It all comes down to a climactic battle between the wife and the temp where only one will ultimately survive.
I would immediately think that this DVD might be a little too more mature for teen audiences, but when I asked teenagers in the southern Bronx what movies should be on the list this one came up pretty consistantly. Beyoncé is pretty popular among the teenage crowd, and Ali Larter (the temp) is pretty recognizable from NBC's recently cancelled Heroes. A lot of movie reviewers criticize this title for being a watered down version of Fatal Attraction... but maybe that's what makes it work with today's New York City teen. Check out the listing for Obsessed on The Internet Movie Database, a great online resource featuring full cast and crew information, filming locations, trivia, quotes and more!
Obsessed (2009) appears on the Stuff for the Teen Age 2010 List.
