Harlem Village Academy middle and high school students have worked with their art teachers to create a stunning collection of art work encompassing many styles—from realistic to abstract using techniques such as portraiture, typography and folded paper. The pieces are bold, dynamic and clearly showcase the students' talent.

From the school's website, you find the following description:

"Our longer school day allows plenty of time for arts and enrichment. Depending on their grade level, students have the chance to experience classical music, martial arts, dance, violin, capoeira, yoga, jazz, cooking, chess, drama, studio art, fencing, basketball, public speaking debate, community service, choir and more." 

The philosophy embraced by the Harlem Village Academy embodies the quote from Shirley Trusty Corey that opened this blog and it is certainly demonstrated by the creative bodies of work produced by their students.
