His groundbreaking book, The Hurried Child, was recently reissued in a special 25th Anniversary Edition. This book offers parents and educators advice for encouraging healthy development in a world dominated by the Internet, cell phones and television while protecting the joy and freedom of childhood. Dr. Elkind is also the author of The Power of Play: Learning What Comes Naturally, in which he stresses the importance of imaginative play in preparing children for academic and social success.
