Miscellaneous Events: The ADA: Celebrating the Arts with Film, Poetry, Dance, and Discussion

Roger Ross Williams will introduce the Academy Award-winning film Music by Prudence he directed about a Zimbabwean band whose members are all people with disabilities, after which the film (32:30 min.) will be screened. Gary Glazner, founder of the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project, will perform some of the poems used in the Project. Heidi Latsky, founder and choreographer of The GIMP Project, will show a 4-minute video about the company. Dancers with The GIMP Project, Lawrence Carter-Long and Jeffrey Freeze, will perform a 7-minute dance,Two Men Walking (music by Sxip Shirey).
After the screening/performances, Roger Ross Williams, Gary Glazner, Heidi Latsky, Lawrence Carter-Long and Jeffrey Freeze will assemble onstage to answer audience questions.
This event will be interpreted into American Sign Language. Real-time (CART) captioning will be provided and assistive listening devices will be available.
