A Multicultural Fairy Tales and Folktales Booklist
Many educators are interested in incorporating a wider diversity of fairy tales and folktales from different cultures in their plans for the upcoming year. Below is a selection of titles, which range from bilingual picture books to contemporary retellings of classic stories.
Any of the included titles would be perfect for children's storytimes and are available in a wide variety of print and online formats from the New York Public Library. You can check out many of these books from the convenience of home, through our SimplyE app. Or look to see if your neighborhood library is currently open as one of our Grab and Go locations.
This list was compiled by Amber Certain, Grace Dwyer, Tessa Hamilton, and Tiffany James from the School Outreach Department.
